Julian in Ancient Garb

Here's my grandson Julian wearing one of my brother Gary's old "Desserts" t-shirts. Desserts was the name of Gary's band back in the early '70s. So that would be like me wearing a medieval jerkin...or something. So old...so old...

Anyway, it fits Julian to a "T" - heh.

Speaking of Desserts, look what the google found:  an ancient recording of "Bernadette" performed by Desserts several thousand years ago at the Royal Oak Music Theater (I think).  "Bernadette" was one of my favorite Desserts songs back then.  I's a clever and catchy  song about Motown Records leaving Detroit, using snippets of other Motown songs.   It was written by local guy Stuart Mitchell, and  in this version, Gary Rosenberg is singing. I believe Motown songwriter/artist Eddie Kendricks also recorded it in the early '80s.

Give it a listen:

I don't know who recorded that song. Maybe Tom Peasley, since he's the one who posted it. It's recorded from a live show Desserts was playing at the Royal Oak Music Theater. We had sold the recording studio by then. I was going to MSU, others were in various colleges, Marshall was in New York, but half the band kept on playing and they sounded pretty good.

Here's the original band, Astigafa, playing "Wingnuts."

Marshall wrote it & is singing. It was the "A" side of our single. The "B" side was "Oh My Lady" written by Dave Monaghan, a guitar player.

Both Wingnuts & Oh My Lady were recorded at Pampa Studios on the East side, underneath a bowing alley. I think it was in Warren. Big Jim Bruzzese was the owner/engineer. Many Bob Seeger records were recorded there.

Here's your uncle Gary in Desserts doing some Christmas songs, a Beatles medley, and finally, Gary singing "Georgia."
