Cabin Life!!

Family
Cabin #10 Westmoreland State Park, VA

This past weekend Susan and I took the kids to the Northern Neck of Virginia to the Westmoreland State Park located on the coast of Westmoreland County, VA. We rented a two bedroom log cabin with a massive stone fireplace as the center focal point. One of the highlights of the park is a .69 mile hike that opens up to Fossil Beach. The beach is a small strip of sand flanked by two massive cliffs. Apparently high tide sweeps over the beach and unearths fossils to include shark teeth. We however, did not find any. The cabins were built in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) and is one of the original 6 State Parks built in Virginia. This trip was so enjoyable that we are already planing another cabin trip to Douthat State Park in the Spring!!

Rock N’ Roll is back!

Music

NPR had a great article about 5 bands that you should know by the end of 2011. JD McPherson is one of those bands. A rocker who’s taking it back to the start of the genre and with Christmas right around the corner this album should find it’s way into my stocking….yes, I still have a stocking. So What? Without further adieu…

NEW LOOK SPARTANS!!

Sports

WOW! The new Nike Combat Uniform is unveiled in East Lansing, MI today at Spartan Stadium as the MSU Spartans take on the Michigan Wolverines for the 104th time (67-31-5 U of M). I don’t know how I feel about this look? I’m more of a traditional kinda guy. In fact I’m so traditional that I think they should bring back the leather helmets of the 1930’s and 40’s…..OK U of M just ran a fake field goal for a first down. I’ve got to go, MSU needs me to watch this game and to make nachos while having a beer in my new “Go Fish” beer stein. I’m sure you all understand.
P.S. Tigers V. Texas tonight at 8:05pm from Arlington, TX. Go TIGERS!!!!!!
